If you have been arrested for DUI in Snohomish County by a Washington State Trooper or Snohomish County Deputy Sheriff you may be wondering when you will appear in court. Well, join the club! A couple of years ago the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney, Janice Ellis, decided that all DUI filings in her office would be reviewed by a prosecuting attorney then filed and formal DUI charges brought in court after notifing the defendant by way of a summons. Brilliant stuff - however, this caused delays of months and defendants would either move or be otherwise unaware that they were now due in court (months after they were arrested).
In early 2010 the system seems to have "improved" and charges are brought against a DUI defendant in Snohomish County about 4-6 weeks after the arrest. So, keep your eyes on your mail box and get a Snohomish County DUI attorney ready to represent you!
