If you have been charged with a DUI in Snohomish County you will have to, at some point, obtain an alcohol and/or drug evaluation. This is a critical component of the DUI process and must be taken seriously. My recommendation is to obtain the evaluation weeks prior to the eventual disposition. The advantage is that if you believe you have received an unfair evaluation you would still have time to receive a second opinion and, you may receive the benefit of reduced costs in the court system (ie. you may not be placed on active probation, depending on the outcome of the evaluation). So in summary, get it early and complete the recommended treatment/classes - however, get the evaluation done at the direction of your attorney.
