A Newcastle woman is being investigated for a DUI after her car collided with a sheriff's deputy patrol car Friday night on Interstate 5.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Julie Startup, the woman was traveling south on I-5 just south of downtown Seattle at about 8:45 p.m. She was in the lane to go toward Interstate 90, but at the last minute tried to switch lanes and stay on the mainline of I-5.

When she cut across the split in the freeway, she hit a steel partition and the Lexus she was driving hit a car driven by a King County sheriff's deputy.

Neither the deputy nor the Lexus driver was seriously injured. The driver of the Lexus was arrested.
