The following pre-exit observations an officer is trained to detect.

PRE-EXIT OBSERVA TIONS

NHTSA informs the officer of three senses that may be observed as typical investigation clues that occur upon contact with the driver. Such observations are typically made prior to the driver exiting his/her vehicle. These include:

. the sense of sight;

. the sense of hearing; and

. the sense of smell.
