Anacortes Skagit County DUI Attorney: Christmas Eve DUI arrest in Anacortes
On Christmas eve in Anacortes, Skagit County, an Anacortes police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 20 as it came into Anacortes around 2:21 a.m. The driver, a 30-year-old Anacortes man, smelled of alcohol and had a flushed face and watery, bloodshot eyes. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests (again, one cannot "fail" these tests according to NHTSA) and was arrested on a charge of DUI. He later allegedly told the officer he drank so much alcohol the bartender stopped serving him, took his keys, and made him wait for two hours drinking coffee before he would let him leave. The man's breath samples were about one and a half times the legal limit. He was cited and released to a sober friend. He will appear in Anacortes Municipal Court.
